Tin cigar boxes

These exhibits provide a sample of how cigars were packed in tin between 1870 to 1960.

This is a broad stroke collection of pictures for folks who want basic pictorial information about making, marketing and packaging in tin.

One of the advantages of writing for the net instead of books is the ability to show work in progress, work only partially researched, written or photographed. That condition describes some of the Museum Exhibits, including this one. Over time, I plan to expand and provide histories of tin’s developing technologies, as well as provide brief histories of the most important tin makers with examples of their work.

I regret the wait for the topic of tin to expand much beyond what is currently available will be a long one, unless I find knowledgeable help from collectors and researchers with a strong background in tin details.
